Where Are They Now? Episode 3 |
Each week this summer, we will feature a former member or instructor in our "Where are they now?" series.
In the third installment of our summer series we interview past member, instructor, management team member, and Hall of Fame member Steve Cirillo.
What years were you involved with the Crusaders (taught, marched, admin staff, support staff, fan)?
BAC percussion member 78-84  Marimba 78-79, Snare 80-81,pit 82-84, assistant conductor 83-84
Staff 82- 97, staff director/ tour director 92-97
Perc. Consultant 98-99

What are you doing now ?
Currently I am the Co- Department Head of the Performing Arts K-12 in Portsmouth, NH.
How did you get involved with the corps?
I joined the corps with Michael Woodall and Dusty Gerlach when a small corps we were in folded after the Blizzard of 78.
What are your fondest memories?
With over 20 years involved in the corps there are so many memories. Â One of my favorites was the crowd response at the 79 CYO Nationals at Boston College. Â The standing ovation at the end of Conquest is still engrained in my head. Another great memory was teaching the 1990 drumline. Â Every show warm-up was an amazing treat. Great players!
What are you favorite BAC traditions?
My favorite traditions include singing Giant before every show. Wearing the the Red and Black with pride. Learning all the drum cadences from the past and sharing them with future Crusaders.
Who do you keep in touch with?
I'm probably most in touch with people from the corps that I taught from the drumline.  Many of them  either taught for me at some local HS or at BC. Also I see a lot of the former staff as they are involved with many local band and judging activities.
What is your favorite Crusader show of all time?
I have two favorite Crusader shows. 67 because I grew up playing the album for years before I ever joined the corps and 2000,  because of its spirit and intensity.
