Audition Wrap Up
Round One of the Crusaders' audition process is complete and staff, members and administration are already preparing for Round Two on Dec 18-20.  Hundreds of students and their families  descended on Lakewood Ranch High School last Friday night, with the last candidates making it through the registration line just as the opening meeting commenced.

Lakewood Ranch had ample indoor and outdoor rehearsal space for the candidates, and although the weather was somewhat cooler than expected, both brass and percussion sections were able to spend a significant amount of time outside over the course of the weekend.

The Lakewood Ranch Band Booster Association provided dessert for everyone Saturday night, and our excellent volunteer team, led by fourth year parent Scott Stemper supplied all the food for the weekend, working out of LRHS’ concession stand.

Returning guard instructor Kim Bolduc stated, “The staff was really inspired by the talent level of this year’s applicants, and we’re excited to continue to raise the bar with our 2010 program.  We pushed this group of candidates further this weekend than in years past and they were definitely up to the challenge.  The new facilities are the perfect home for Boston’s winter program and may present us with a new opportunity to further develop the guard throughout the off-season.”

Overall attendance numbers for Round One auditions reflected nearly a 50% increase from those of 2009.  Wayne Dillon and his brass team are expecting 120 brass members at callbacks in December to make the final selections for the 2010 hornline.
