Crusaders Welcomed at Lakewood Ranch |
The Boston Crusaders Drum & Bugle Corps, in conjunction with the Lakewood Ranch High School Band Boosters Association and the Lakewood Ranch High School administration are pleased to announce that the Boston Crusaders will be artists in residence at Lakewood Ranch for the 2010 Winter Camp and Workshop season, beginning the weekend of November 27-29, 2009.
Through this partnership, the LRHS community and the Crusaders will share both physical and human resources from November through May of 2010. Lakewood Ranch arts programs will have access to Crusaders staff and equipment as well as the ability to participate in the Crusaders winter program at a reduced rate.
Jerry and Cathy Howze, Co-Presidents of the LRHS Band Boosters Association were key to the development of this arrangement. "We are very excited to provide the Boston Crusaders with a home this year. Having a World Class drum corps on campus will allow our students and staff to see how their show is developed from the ground up. This should allow us to emulate some of their best practices into our own marching band program," said the Howzes.
In addition, at the conclusion of the Crusaders' camp season in early May, the Crusaders will perform at a joint concert event with members of the LRHS fine arts department. "We are looking forward to working with the Howzes and Directors Bob Schaer and Chad Guess along with the students of the LRHS arts programs this year. They have already made us feel very welcome at Lakewood Ranch, and I expect there are more good things on the horizon for this partnership" said Crusaders Executive Director Tom Spataro.
